你羞不羞!
最近,为了准备COMC, 我给学生们布置了一些计数题。一个11年级学生把题目带到了学校去,让数学老师帮忙,结果,一个多小时也做不出一道题!一个十年级学生也把题目带到了学校,利用午休时间做;同班一个刚刚从中国来的学生凑过去问他在干什么,不禁脱口而出:It is a shame! Are you still doing this type of questions? I did it in Grade 3!
再看看那些正在上Data的12年级学生们:一个个愁眉苦脸,不少人第一个月下来就把课程给Drop掉了。到了12年级竟然还不会数数?不但学生们不会数,就连老师们也不会数。为什么?教学大纲的错。所以有人说,The Canadian Curriculum is a bull-shit! 不管你信不信,反正我深信不疑。
Oakville的一个贵族私校(收费奇高无比),今年给8年级学生搞了一个快班(Advanced Class); 班上共有8个学生,其中6个是中国面孔,外加一个白人,一个黑人。该班有一半的学生在我这里补习。结果呢,任课老师的水平还不如学生!学生们提出的问题他们实在是Handle不了啦!于是,几个老师合计请了一个Tutor; 对该Tutor千叮万嘱:这事只可你知我知,可千万不能说出去啊!可这世上哪里有不透风的墙啊!
一个老师知道自己的不足,愿意学习,这是好事情,没有什么可害羞的;可耻的是那些不懂还在那里瞎扯的老师。我在博客里已经报过数不清的这种事了,现在还是不得不说。这里的老师竟然恨某种数学方法—配方法,并且把这种恨传递给了学生—未来的老师。我以前只是知道有些老师不愿意教这种方法(不知为何),但是今天下午一个十年级学生跟我说,他死也不会用这种方法!我就问他二次求根公式怎么来的,他说他背下来的;再随手写了几道二次方程的题让他去做,结果竟然无一能做。
为什么这里的教育者都没有逻辑,而且从来都不追根问底?知识的结构是有先后次序的,任何系统都有出发点。这里的老师竟然会先教函数的导数后教函数的概念,先教画图后教运算;不讲任何道理,只让你死背!如此教出来的学生会创新?教了几十年书,自己都不明白为什么,你羞不羞啊!
