过有意义的生活

女儿昨晚看当地电视台播出的电视连续剧[EVERWOOD]时,听到Dr. Harold Abbott讲了两句话“Be happy when we face good times,” “And count your blessings during the bad times.”很受启发,就”过一个有意义的生活和幸福生活”,提出她自己的看法,为此完成了下面的文字.

Sometimes, we as humans do not realize how precious every second is. We waste our time on useless applications, but could be using it for more straightforward work. We could be going out to other countries and helping children in need instead of the “Friday Family Movie Night.” We could be volunteering at the local shelter or donating money or food to Christmas Cheer. There’s a world of possibilities out there for you to do.

God, like most parents, wants us to live a full and happy life, dedicating it to help others. He wants us to contribute to the world, either with material wealth, or more importantly, non-material wealth. Have you noticed that when everyone around you was carefree and happy, you seem happy also? A simple smile to a little child brings happiness to that child’s heart. When you share your faith with others, you also pass on the “feeling” of God inside you. You are a live and walking witness for God! Isn’t it marvellous how God works within you? His Spirit walks with you through your life so that you can be more like God every single day. He helps you make good decisions for both your physical life and your spiritual life. Our Lord is a merciful and just God who is truly perfect and is what we should seek in life.

Most of the time, we do not see the roadblocks that stop us from accomplishing what we want. We often put all the blame on our loving Father, and say: “You knew this would happen; why didn’t you stop it?” We think that the perfect life is one where we face no challenges and live in bliss. However, if you know your lessons from childhood, “From scraped knees you know how to keep from falling.” We learn from our failures and grow to be better people. People who live in bliss are not as happy as the ones who lived through mistakes and learned from them. The people who make mistakes but fix them up have a sense of accomplishment and pride, also more love for God because of how God had guided them through the trial.

God is merciful. He does not cause our suffering and hurt. Instead he leaves us a way out of our troubles if we adhere to his guidelines. He will help us through, and will be very generous in whatever he is giving to us. In turn, we should do our Lord’s will here on Earth and give praise to our God on High. Our sins will be still present but the Lord our God sent Him, Jesus Christ, to Earth to wash away our sins. Our sins are forgiven when we ask him, and our conscience will feel better, and our lives will in turn be happier.

One thing that we all trip upon is the happiness for things that we already have. We should give thanks for all the things we already have and cherish. If we always have that greed for having more and more things, then we will never be satisfied. We should never wish for something more than what we already have, since either it’s not in God’s plan for us, or it’s not the right time to receive it. I once read a touching story about a teenager with leukemia who really wanted to go to a famous ballet. Yet, she was not granted her wish. On her sixteenth birthday, she opened up her card and…voila! There was a pair of tickets to Paris, to see a world famous dance troupe dance! She was shocked and amazed, more than she would be if she was granted her wish when she was 12.

God wants us to be patient too. Actually, one of the “Fruits of the Spirit” was patience. It’s a skill that most of us, including me, lack. We all wish that there are no bus delays, no fire drills, and no lines. But in life, if we didn’t have patience, we would not be able to accomplish anything. To accomplish your dreams, and also do what God wants us to do, we need TONS of patience.

Love is a very important virtue too. There are 3 types of love, and all are needed to have a happy life. Here’s the 3: Family Love, Romantic Love, and Worldly Love. All truly happy people radiant all types of love around all people. In their families and close friends they share Family Love, around their significant other they demonstrate Romantic Love, and they show Worldly Love to everyone else. Whenever they walk around you can feel their warmth and glow around them. Those people attract people to themselves, and they almost always succeed at whatever they do. People respect them and like to be nice and kind towards them. In my opinion, love is one of the most important virtues to living a happy life.

Last, but not least, the spark in our lives caused by the Holy Spirit living in us is very apparent and will let us have the happiest life. Although we may go through hard times, but our souls will delight in God’s love and patiently await the next step of God’s plan for us. God knows what is the best for us, and he WILL let us have a happy life.
